Enforcing HP Agreements

Hello, my partner is unable to keep up with an HP agreement (in his name only) on a caravan. The agreement was taken out in Dec 06 for 7 years through Capital Bank. We've always paid the monthly instalment of £500 but now find ourselves unable to pay this amount and are concerned about them repossessing the caravan, especially as it is a means of income/potential living for us and my husband has recently been made redundant. Any experience/assistance gratefully received.

Could they take it off us fairly swiftly or might there be a lengthy court thing going on? My husband has tried to talk to these people and reschedule the agreement but they really don't want to know. They are being quite threatening on the phone, won't pass him to a manager, say it's not their policy, say that if we cancel the DD they will move to repossess immediately. My partner has offered to pay a reduced monthly amount until he finds work but they really don't want to know, it's the full amount or they move in for the kill. Any advice please? Thank you.
