Well, I've got a reply from Ebay about how I am supposed to improve my DSR's.... Although, as I already post everything out within 24 hours, I won't be doing anything differently....

Thank you for writing to us about improving DSRs for dispatch time.

XXXX, I understand the inconvenience caused to you as a result of the
drop in the DSRs for dispatch time on your account. There are a number
of steps a seller can take to reduce the level of low DSRs (1s and 2s)
they receive. Accurate description of of the handling time and a
commitment to meeting your selling terms are at the heart of providing a
    great experience for buyers.

Also, the Detailed Seller Ratings are kept anonymous so that the sellers
do not take advantage of it and the buyers can leave honest feedback and
rating. However, we understand this is an area where sellers have less
control than others. We encourage sellers to set appropriate
expectations with their buyers and to let them know when delays may
    arise.

For your reference, the DSR are left by the buyers and it is their own
viewpoint about their experience for a particular transaction, eBay's
system has not changed in the calculation of DSR. I'm sure you will work
out on it and improve the DSR. As you know, eBay puts great emphasis on
positive buying experiences. Buyers should be confident that when they
purchase an item on eBay, the item is available and will be delivered
promptly. You can always keep updating about the dispatch of the item to
the buyer via email, this gives buyer a good feeling that you are
concerned about the item received by them or not. To give the best
service to buyers in this area:

    - Post as soon as possible once buyers have paid
    - Include handing time in your listing to set buyers' expectations
    - Use tracking information so you and the buyers know where the item is
    during transit

    About seller performance standards

To meet the minimum standards required to sell on eBay, you need to
limit the number of 1s and 2s you received on your Detailed Seller
Ratings (DSRs). If you exceed 3% of your total transactions with low
DSRs for Item as Described or more than 4% on any other DSRs, your
account will be considered below standard.

You may also be considered performing below standard if you receive too
many cases of items not received or items not as described, or negative
    or neutral Feedback.

It's important for all sellers to be familiar with our Seller
Performance standards. To find out more copy this link into a new
    browser window:

For your future reference, I have provided some guidelines, which you
may consider to follow to improve your overall DSRs ratings. Here are
some things you can do in every sale to help ensure buyer satisfaction
    and good DSRs:

    - Be as detailed as possible when describing your item.
    - Take clear photos from several angles to use in your listing.
    - Describe the item's condition clearly, particularly anything that
can't be seen in the photos.
    - Package the item well to ensure it's delivered safely.
    - Indicate postage costs and time frames clearly.
    - Keep your buyer updated via email, especially if there may be problems
    or delays.
    - Ensure that your terms and conditions are clear and concise in your
    listing.
    - Respond to buyers quickly and personally when they email or phone you.

I trust the above information addresses your concern and wish you all
good luck trading further on eBay. If you need any further assistance,

To put that into my context, we have had the same 5 lows in over 1,800 transactions, and that's still not good enough as far as I'm concerned, so we brought in a free postage option to trap the moaners. ;)

But you will still get the buyer who will mark you down on postage no doubt....

DSRs are a joke really - the fact it is all related to your level of discount really hit home over the winter The snow meant items were delayed, so I got 2 low stars for dispatch time, despite same day dispatch. I could have done nothing more, but still buyers dictated me paying a pile more in fees.

The whole DSR system is stupid IMHO.
I always post next day, even though my terms state within 3 days and I always just charge the exact postage - sometimes even taking a bit of a 'hit' on packaging etc. - just to keep buyers happy.

I always send a brief message to say when the item is posted; and mark it as dispatched straight away.

All my feedback has been glowing with praise........

And yes, my DSRs are getting lower by the day.

I'm a small, private seller, but probably not for much longer. :(

My 3 months ones seem OK so far:
    Item as described4.980.00% (0
    )Communication4.990.00% (0
    )Dispatch time4.990.00% (0)
    Postage and packaging charges4.880.00% (0

but i do have 1 single 1 * for item description in my 12 month stats

Overall my 3 month stats are higher than my 12 month ones.

I have 4.9 and 5's across the four, but 1 single low on dispatch time. The buyer emailed me to say the item had not been received (I post same day, yes SAME day) and on a 2 day service *fully tracked. The item was showing as at the local delivery office for collection. I immediately emailed the buyer, gave them tracking (for the second time) and a week later they collected it. They marked me down? I think the system is as fair as a triangle is square.
  • I dont think they want us any more - sob,sob ! - we served the purpose of making Ebay the monster that it is now and we must be getting under the big boys feet

this could be a gentle hint to " go and procreate elsewhere please "
As Martin says - please be nice - there is no such thing as a stupid question ! ;)

    Yes.

    And so do ebay.

Well more fool you. Let me assume that your postal costs average £1.50 per item, hence 1800 x £1.50 = £2,700. So you paid ebay approx £270 for doing diddly squat. As well as paypal fees. Congratulations in your business strengths.:T:rotfl:
Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies
  • I also received one of these emails and have just checked the dashboard and it seems that people in the past didn't like my postage prices! I have had no 1 or 2* ratings so why should I receive the email this time or is it a new scheme by ebay?

ETA: I have over 700 feedback ratings with no neutral or negative ratings

The free post items cost more,(postage cost + extra fees) so actually the buyers pay.:rotfl:

Congratulations on your sarcasm fail :T

    And also, 10%?
8.75% plus discount for us. :)
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p

I said approx 10% and if you incorporate postal costs into prices, then of course you pay ebay a percentage.

PS with somebody who has had over 10,000 feedbacks, on various ebay accounts (business and personal) over the years, I have a little idea what I am talking about.

All my buyers now are targeted towards my websites and google checkout. So although I turn over a lot with ebay, their greed has not helped them.
