i had british gas visit last night as i thought my cooker was leaking gas, we had all been ill for the last week with feeling tired etc. my daughter could also smell gas from cooker and said flame did not alter no matter what gas mark you selected. bless british gas they arrived within 20 minutes and discovered leak was coming from meter cupboard not cooker. but cooker thermostat was broke. he said by the time i get someone to order part and fit it will cost in region of £150. if thats the case i would rather buy a new one, but which new one???? my ex wants to pick up thermostat and fit himself but my mum doesnt want him messing with gas and would rather buy me a new one. plus they dont get on so whichever option i choose i will end up with an arguement with one of them! but besides all that drama, can anyone recommend a cooker that perhaps they have bought recently and thinks is great or has come across a website that has some brilliant deals please?

You are fortunate to have spotted the symptoms of a gas leak and resolved that in time - the £150 repair charge seems a bit much and it would be more worthwhile to just get a new one.
There are quite a few cookers you can choose from on here which are competitively priced, much of it depends on your budget and desired size:

Having had a look through them, it looks like there are some good offers going on this particular model of gas cooker:
Indesit K3G21SXIR Gas Cooker
The best price is about £235 from Laskys, while Comet is about £280 and Dixons / Currys in the £350 range.
It is an FSD compliant gas cooker which might be reassuring considering your circumstances:
"FSD is a flame supervision device. A safety device that will cut off the gas supply if the flame goes out. All gas/ dual fuel cookers or hobs installed in flats must have a FSD."Shin: a device for finding furniture in the dark.

I bought this one

I got it just before Christmas and i love it. I got mine from Laskys but they don`t have any atm.
The clearance site is a good one to buy from but make sure that you check the delivery charges and product condition report before you think of bidding for anything. I`m going to get a new fridge freezer from there later this year if i can find one that i like
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon
