Virgin olive oil - aquired taste?

Thanks for a very interesting thread. :T
I thought that I was strange as everyone else seems to love olive oil and seem to be pouring it on everything. OH insists on putting ev in trolley when shopping and I've got 3 bottles in cupboard 'cos I don't use it. If he cooks he can use it!
I have tried Aldi's mild though and don't mind that so much, I think that it's diluted with something else so that it's not so strong....The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

I use extra virgin olive oil for most things although I stir fry using groundnut oil and use a little butter/sunflower oil for omelette.
However, I've had two disasters with olive oil:- mixing with butter to make spreadable: this is far too bitter. I usually use sunflower oil but had run out.
- mixed with a few drops of castor oil for the (facial) oil cleansing method: it smells vile, though not as bad as the time I tried an omega 3 capsule!

, but what I dont get is this virgin olive oil thing.
I got some as all the chefs use it, but I think its a strong taste and it makes my food taste weird. I just tend to stick to regular sunflower oil now.
Is it an aquired taste? Do you love it or loathe it?:p
I'm with you 100% ....at the risk of being accused of sitting on the fence, I think it makes everything taste vileI do like olives though.
