OK I am about to accept a offer on a flat after 18 months in hospital and rehab due to my mental health.
I will probably get a community care grant, but need to make the money last. You guys helped with a bed, so could you advice me where to get a settee from? i will have £300 tops. I'd like a 2 setter, don't mind if it's leather or fabric.
Harveys have some about £250 but worry about quality, same with homebase and argo's. Thanks Guys

Good luck - have you got an Ikea near you? That's where ours is from and it's cheap and cheerful(ish!)0

Yeah I do, which Ikea one did you get? I got so confused by the ranges. Thanks for your help

Have you had a look on Ebay. Search locally and see if you fancy any second hand ones. Or find a second hand shop locally. You will have money spare then for nice little extras!
Or like was said, Ikea do nice furniture.
I would avoid Argos, as having read some of the reviews of the sofas, they aren't very good
And good luck with your new home!

Just had another thought! How about a local freecycle or asking around friends and family?
My (new to me) leather suite is coming next week, courtesy of a family member who is redecorating and wants to change the colour scheme!0 -
Try the local charity shops. We got some excellent armchairs for around £40 each.0

Do you have a local furniture scheme? They sell good quality second hand furniture only to people who qualify - ie they have a community care grant! Ask at your local Council or your Housing Association if they own the flat.MFW 1310

i'd second freecycle, or the free ads in your local paper.
You can post a wanted ad on freecycle, or just search to see if anyone is getting rid of one....Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
I know there are many non MSE types who change their sofas as often as the seasons, if you don't get one from Freecycle check out the local ads in shop windows etc, you'll get something nearly new for next to nothing with any luck.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

If you have a local auction near you, they usually have loads of them and you probably won't have to pay too much. They should be able to deliver as well.0

Our last 2 sofas have been free and have been absolutely fine. I really wouldn't bother buying new if money is tight there are loads of free or second hand bargains to be had.0
