Well thanks for finally clearing this up, although I note you don't actually have a degree yet, but your current qualifications would certainly count as admissible to apply to uni ;)

Not having a dig, but many of your posts start with "I am a qualified ......." "I'm educated to degree level in ........" before going on to give people a lecture about what they're doing right or wrong, as if you are the ultimate authority on the subject.

You may have studied some of these subjects but you appear to have very little hands on working experience in a lot of these areas (your own admission of unemployment) and studying a module won't give you that experience. You even appointed yourself as expert feline nutritionist on the pets board, yet have no prior experience or qualifications in animal science or related subjects, just what you've picked up on reading internet forums! :p

Your attitude often comes across as "I have studied this subject therefore I know better than you or anyone else about it" which possibly isn't how you intend it, but a lot of people see it that way. Anyway, now I've got that off my chance I won't ever mention it again :D

Apologies to the OP for going off-topic :o

If you wish to take my posts as being authoritative that is your prerogative. If you wish to believe that all I have read about feline nutrition is from forums again that is your prerogative. How on earth do you think I am on my third degree level qualification if not by studying at university? :rotfl: You have no idea what fields I have experience in as you have not asked - I have been unemployed for a little over two months, not continuously for the twenty two years of my working life!

I do wish the rest of the family liked Lentils and pulses as they are a much better source of slower carbs, will see if I can start adding them to things as bulk filler.

If you use them in meals and slow cook them i.e. mince meals or currys etc you don't actually see them. Especially in an orange sauce!

RE the fruit thing... could you not bag it up in smaller bags? You can get little zip lock bags on ebay for about a few pounds which would do one portion of fruit or nuts. That's the way I do it usually. Or I stick them in a teeny tupperware dish.

Yes small enough zip lock bags would work, i will look for them on ebay.

Maybe some dates, yet again, cheaper in an ethnic shop, would be another alternative to the pricey little bags?

I'm not going to argue semantics with you, this is neither the time or the place. I'll just say I've noticed a lot of discrepancies in your posts over the past year, as well as giving out information which proves to be incorrect, the most recent example I recall was the discussion over brand and generic products, yet you qualified your statement with "I am a qualified pharmacy technician" giving the impression that not only are you correct, but that is what you are employed as.

You also frequently refer to having clients, again giving the impression you are currently in employment/self-employed, but freely admitted to being unemployed when I asked you about your client base some time ago (and certainly more than two months ago). I'm not in the habit of searching people's posts for 'proof' but I do have a reasonably good memory for recalling trivial things.

Anyway as I said, I'm not going to comment further or I might be accused as being some sort of stalker lol ...I don't doubt you do have qualifications (I've certainly amassed quite a few myself through CPD and further education since retiring from veterinary work, and I'm currently undertaking my third degree, but with the OU this time due to health restrictions) My quibble is about the manner in which you come over at times which can be extremely irritating, but then I'm hardly known for tact & diplomacy in my own posts at times :D

I think this is the conversation you are referring to, just over six weeks ago?

crux- I've noticed recently that asda have started doing ingredients which I usually consider a luxury at a much more affordable price point. Tesco have started doing this too. 2 examples would be balsamic vinegar for only £1, and mozarella balls at 49p:money:

perhaps trying to build a meal round the luxury ingredients that are being sold quite cheaply could be a way forward?

Chameleon, I've had debates about nutrition with firefox and I don't agree that she asuumes an 'I'm an authority' stance. I feel she offers her opinions open-handedly and is respectful of others' points of view. Just wanted to add my experience of the debates we've had, to balance things. :)

Chameleon and Fire Fox, could you two take it outside please? :rotfl::rotfl:

Aside from that I just wanted to say that I've found this to be an excellent thread, which stands on it's own merits, and would like to appeal to PP not to merge it with any other thread?

    Thanks.

Little in the way of left over's I almost always scoff them :(

Besides I try and buy for the meals I plan to make. There is occasionally dairy stuff like crème fresh and plain yoghurt wasted, although last night I also scoffed a bit of plain yog with my fruit to polish it off rather than bin it.

Last week I binned, 1 leek (forgot what I brought it for and it went bad), half a small tub of Greek yog, half a lot of HM hummus that had been in the fridge too long and a couple of oranges that had sat too long, so we do waste a bit and I will try to stop it. But mostly it's things that can't be frozen well.

Hehe, not getting much work done today!

Well - in those circumstances - I would tend to feel "Well - theres no harm done if I liquidized up the oranges and Greek yogurt together and stuck them in the freezer" - and would subsequently get them out to use as pudding or a bit of breakfast. The leek - these days if it looks like a vegetable might be about to "go over" then I tend to add it to other vegetables in a casserole dish and drizzle a bit of olive oil over and throw in a bit of crushed garlic and bake it in the oven. So - the hummus is the only bit of that that might have got wasted here chez ceridwen.
