Need ideas for careers in languages

Most jobs in publishing aren't particularly well paid, like many other jobs in the creative media, but it can be possible to progress very quickly by moving companies every few years in the early part of your career. Most of the people I work with are graduates - some are former teachers and some have done TEFL for a few years before coming into publishing. Several universities offer a 1-year postgrad publishing diploma, or a 3-year degree in publishing, which can also help with getting into the industry. A few publishers also offer a graduate trainee programme too, though competition to get a place is fierce. The best thing is to gain some experience on the editorial, production or marketing side of any publication though - student newspaper, local magazine etc, or to do a work placement for a publishing company.

what languages do you speak? A lot of companies require people who speak other languages as many of their customers are foreign.

There seems to be plenty of multilingual PA vacancies around, paying 25-60k at the moment. Plus one for 100K but your life wouldnt be your own with that one.
