Fed up of nearly slicing my fingers off when cutting the Sunday joint - can anyone suggest a good meat slicer that could also cut bread (have a bread maker still in its box!!!).
Searched Argos for 'slicer' and it only offers me a toaster!

Hello BargainJunky
I immediately thought of an electric carving knife, they're brilliant at carving meat.;)
However, I've never used it for slicing bread so I don't know if it would be right for you. I don't have a problem slicing loaves of bread. I think it's probably because I watched a Master Baker in a previous job. I watched him carefully and copied him and now (if I say so myself:o ) my bread slices are very straight and I've never cut my fingers.
Happy slicing

Lidl were selling an electric slicer about 2 weeks ago for £29.99, our local store still has them in.I have the mind of a criminal genius. I keep it in the freezer next to Mother....0

Thanks for the replies - I already have an electric knife but still cant manage to cut the meat thin enough!!!! Saw the slicers in Lidl and hubby led me to believe mother in law was buying me one for my birthday - she didnt and our store doesnt have any now.
Will keep looking - perhaps may find one at my favourite type of discount place - the local car boot!!!:T0 -
Hi, I wanted one from Lidl, but they had sold out by the time I got there too!
Argos do one for the same price I think. My catalogue (empire) has a kenwood slicer for £29.99, and you get the comission off too.
Bought one and admit it is not something I use everyday, but I have found it to be great for the sunday roast and bread. Toast seems to be better from it too as there are no crumbs on the slices which of course burn faster than the rest.0 -
