Another Northern Rock Grumble...

I just thought I'd bring this up for discussion.

I applied to Northern Rock for a £4k loan to buy a new car.

Originally I requested their cheapest PPI (£2 p.m.) and they came back with an interest rate of 9.9% (not great but this was my fall back plan so I wasn't overly worried). They called me up and I complained about the rate (it's a long way from 5.7 or whatever!) but said I was still considering taking it out although I didn't want the payment protection. She said I had to get new papers through to sign...

So today I get them, no PPI but the interest rate has gone up to 10.9%

I have one letter dated 5th Aug 9.9% and one 7th Aug 10.9%

Now MAYBE it's to do with the interest rate change (4th Aug) but MAYBE it's to do with screwing more money out of me either way.

In the end I don't mind as I'm taking the loan elsewhere - just wanted to see whether this had happened to anyone else?

No, but in my opinion the company are scum. Their bullying tactics to 'encourage' (force) their customers to take loan protection are disgusting.
