From Wiki
BlackBerry Messenger (abbreviated BBM) is a proprietary Instant Messenger application included on newer model BlackBerry devices. It was developed by Research in Motion. Messages sent via Blackberry Messenger are sent over the BlackBerry PIN system; thus, communication is only possible between two BlackBerry devices. Exchanging messages is also possible via dedicated discussion or chat rooms, which allow multiple BlackBerry devices to communicate in a single session. In addition to offering text-based Instant Messages, BlackBerry Messenger allows users to send pictures, a wide selection of emoticons (also known as "smileys") and other files over the Blackberry network. With the release of BlackBerry Messenger 5.0, RIM allows users to use their unique QR Code 2D (matrix) barcode to add each other to their respective friends lists rather than using only numeric PIN identification.
I'm going for the 3rd option as I know jack about such things and find even the above rather challenging to decipher!Worse things will have happened in the world today..."The only thing that really matters, it to love and to be loved."0 -

However being a wee bit of a technophobe and only being used to a cheap old (was the cheapest one I could get 4-5 years ago) mobile, I'm still terrified of messing it up. lol!
The phone is absolutely awesome, I fell a wee bit in love with it the second I opened the parcel. I've now gotten the hang of sending messages (so much quicker with the keypad), and have even dared to venture on the web with it (something my old one couldn't do). The pictures taken with is is fabulous. But I still haven't dared to set it up with e-mail/try BBM... I'm sure I'll get there, just give me a few more weeks.0 -
