Bank Charges - 6 years max question

sorry to bother you all again but something just popped in my mind...

when I requested my last 6 years statements of charges from the bank to use for making my claim they sent me statements from the 1st may 2000 to present date.

The first charge on my schedule attached with my LBA was applied on the 31/05/2000

now that we are in August 2006, do I need to ammend my schedule so that I only go back as far as 6 years from todays date (e.g. August 2000), or is this still valid based on when I first contacted the bank???

Many Thanks
Damian :)

The claim will be from the date you first formally asked for the money back AFAIK. So if you write your letter and send it straight off today, then you can claim back to 10-8-00. The date you sent your subject access request isn't relevant.

  • I sent my Premliminary Letter on the 14th July 2006 and so are you saying I was wrong to include charges from the 31st May 2000 to the 14th July 2000 ????

The only reason I included them was because this was the first charge on the 6 years worth of statments they sent me,

they have not mentioned this though so perhaps I should just procced as things are, just dont want something like that to loose me the case in court
  • still

can anybody help on this as I need to get this right when doing filing my claim!

    Many Thanks
    Damian
  • I thought you could claimn what you wanted to but that the banks were likely to say that beyond 6 years they didn't have records - but it they've sent you the statement .....

I may be wrong so try the bank action group - those guys know EVERYTHING about bank charge reclamation!
