Actually, if you stop or reduce payments on your loan that were agreed at the time you signed, you are committing theft.

Moreover, when debtors prisons were abolished by act of parliament in 1869, it was still possible for someone who had the means to repay debts but chose not to could still go to jail for up to six weeks, and they were still liable for the debt.

Even now this is technically the case only now it falls under the various laws concerning fraud.

i thought one could only go to prison for not paying debts owed to Child Maintence, Frauded benefits and Tax. Or can one be sent down for a bank loan? surely not! no Magistrate or jury would send someone down for owing a debt to a bank.

Hope everyone is bright eyed this morning!

Those scratchy blankets weren't too bad for you? The drafts?

And I'll be checking cells later so hide the vodka please.

    Right - jobs for today

Mrs A - you're on postal bag sewing duty
Mike - you're on the water wheel
Snagglepuss- you're in the kitchen whipping cream

And I'll find tasks for the others when I think of them. I'm off to make a cuppa tea. I'm having Earl Grey - you can have a teasco value shared between you if you're all good!
  • Morning all... I feel a bit rough after that home made stuff that we created !

Off to the waterwheel for me, Boy I must have been bad to deserve this !

No, not for the loan, for refusing to repay it. This is fraud or at least obtaining money by deception.

  • You simply cant go to prison for refusing to pay a loan, Fraud yes, but refusing to pay no.

The only way you 'may' and its a long long may... is you get taken to court and you refuse to co-operate.

Boy its been a long day here today, Mrs A.. What times lock up tonight !
