When Did I Upset Karma Gods So Much- HELP

Only 2 days ago I put all of my money woes on here.... had a couple of people reply but basically we have outgoings twice what our income is and to pay off just the loans would take 14 years even with snowballing. So the upshot is we are now looking to up sticks, sell the house, pay the debts and start all over somewhere else without anything but that nothing includes no debts. So you might think... what is wrong with her.... well my darling OH got a letter today from his daughters mother saying we can see her.... oh boy does that cow know when to kick someone. We have a house worth about £145k and debts of £139 inc mortgage....... so what would you do ?

Basically, we are totally screwed. the choices seem to be
1. Speak to CCCS and spend the next 15 years or so dreading phone calls and looking guilty all the time
2. Run away to Rio... too hot so thats not a goer
3. Go down the IVA route... again that isnt likely to make me or OH feel anything other than a failure
4. Sell up and rent... when we are old, if we move back to my home country (Scotland) we will get more spent on us than we would here (England) and not worry too much about having to sell assets for long term care... if we dont have them we cant sell them and in the meantime we can live our lives together without having to feel beholden to some little $h1t in a call centre who would have been a model Gestapo henchman 60 yrs ago. And anything we save in the meantime will be ours.... get my name down for a nice little flat by the sea for when I go doolally and bob is my father's brother.

if I seem a bit bright and breezy that is only a disguise, inside I am totally wrung out with tears and despair.

So... what would you do ?? answers please...

    Hi

I don't understand this bit - why is this a bad thing?

That was the first thing that stood out - I'll have a look at the SOA now :)
My sig's too large, apparently - so apologies to whoever's space I was taking up.:lipsrseal

    Hi ;)

Well firstly, I wouldn't sell my home, especially as the equity isn't going to anywhere near cover what you owe and then you've the worry of where are you going to live (if anything, once you've paid ea fees etc, you could well be worse off).

My honest opinion looking at your SOA is that you are throwing hundreds of pounds down the toilet every month. I'm reluctant to put what I actually think, as I worry that it may offend.

You are living WAY beyond your means (and I'm not talking about the debt repayments!) and I think by upping and moving on, you are just going to take your terrible habits with you.

You need to have a drastic rethink about what you're doing with your money, as most things that you have listed need to be scrapped as with an income of £1400 pm, you simply can't afford to live like this.
"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."

  • Ok

Your buildings and contents insurance seems high - we are with Esure for 20 quid a month.

Mobile - if they're business calls are you getting paid expenses for them?

Pet insurance/pet costs - what are these, as you already have accounted for pet food? Is the insurance an absolute necessity?

Food shopping - how many is that for, it's very high. I've just done last month's for two adults and two children for less than 240 - have a look on the Old Style board.

Coffee/sandwiches out - ditch. Take a packed lunch.

Drinks/eats for home - isn't this included in your food shopping?

    Cinema/theatre - ditch.

Holiday costs - if you're in real trouble, then you may have to consider not going on holiday for a bit.

Some of this may sound harsh and I apologise for that, but when you're in the financial poo you have to make some sacrifices. I'm sure others will be along to give better advice than I have :)

Ah right, that makes more sense.

Well, if he's named on her birth certificate, he will have some rights. Visit the Citizen's Advice Bureau, or find a solicitor that will give you an initial half hour free consultation.

As for the rest of the SOA, I'm in agreement with the previous poster I'm afraid - there's an awful lot of money there going on nothing at all. But have a good old look around these forums and you will find loads of ideas on how to cut things down and pull the reins in.

Well done for seeing the light!!
Many on the site have been through similar pains and will be happy to help and advise. It is natural to feel uncertain as to your options.
Why not give speak to CCCS. You are not bound to take this option on. I bet if you do speak you will have a clearer view. These guys can take a lot of the burden off you and they do not charge you a penny!
Selling up is another option. Do you really want to leave your home?
I took the Payplan option. I've got about 9 years of tough living ahead but feel better for dealing with my debts
  • Here are my thoughts  hope you don't mind me being blunt?

    Have had another thought.
If you give CCCS a ring they can tell you what monthly spends would be acceptable to your creditors, should you make a repayment arrangement with them. They are quite generous in some instances but tough in others. I know that petrol and phone allowances are pretty small

I'm a realtive newbie but I've just gone through a similar process - looked at my SOA before posting and thought 'i can't reduce that any more, surely'. But I've taken over £100 off. And we didn't have a social life to pay for before, or pets lol
You can definately reduce your outgoings to make a huge difference (i reckon about £422 a month) to you debts but you've got to want to make the sacrifices.

Best of luck with what ever you decide to do.
