    Is this a secured loan/HP?

If so then they do need to change the documents to show that the car the debt secured on now has different plates, and it would seem typical that they would bill an administration cost for this.

You could look at the loan agreement but doubt you'll have much luck.

If you can afford to splash out on a private plate I'm sure you can pay £30 to have the documents changed

30 quid seems about right to me. Sorry.

How much did the private plate cost? Vanity is always expensive.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.
  • As previous posters have said - they will have to issue modifying documents and inform the HPI and car data check companies that the interest has moved to your new plate -- this will obviously cost them money. They have every right to pass on that cost to you.
