I won - I think £250 - Askamum - Please advise and help though!!

Hello there

I received a WEM saying I had won this comp

http://www.askamum.co.uk/Win/Search-Results/Competitions/Win-a-professional-chef-in-your-home-worth-250/

But instead of the chef I could have £250. However, they wanted all my bank account details in an email for a BACS transfer as they don't do cheques or emails. I have emailed the website and the replies appear legit in that they say I am 1 of 2 winners. Has anyone won before and had had to give out details like this? The guys email is Zania Guy and I've searched forums and google and can't finad anything on him.

Thanks

Well Done on winning.......Mmmmm not sure what I would do ....I don't like giving bank details over. Why can't they send a cheque....? I'm sure someone else will come along and be a bit more helpful. Good Luck.

Ring him, make sure you go through the switchboard number, then you will have the security of knowing it's legit.

I read last night that cheques fullstop will be going in the next 10 years and wondered how comps would pay out cash prizes, and this seems to be the way.

    Good luck

edit: when u set up direct debits u often give ur acct ~ and sort code out xxxx

Just so you know Zania Guy is from the promotions company not askamum directly, I had a winning email message for a different comp different prize from this promotion company, haven't received my prize yet but they appear to be legit.

Yes - I won on the Andrex comp and it was Zania Guy who mailed me. I received my prize no problems. Can you ask if they can send a cheque instead?

I have done and they've said their finance department doesn't do cheques. All indications appear to be that is kosher and £250 would come in very handy....

Moneysaving sam - The whoel point of this thread is that they dont use cheques anymore.

Sweir - all they need is your account number and sort code which you will find on your cards and cheques so easily available and 'out there', nothing to worry about, just an easy and quick way to pay money in.
    Thank you all who post.

I was just about to say the same, when you write out a cheque you give those details over. Well done and enjoy your windfall.
