hey! congrats on posting, it's the first step.
the main thing that struck me on your soa was the high limit on you rod and cc compared to the balance. i'd definatly lower those to avoid the temptation of using them! plus you get the added bonus of less potential debt!
didn't see anything in your post saying why the car is essential? i'd maybe be temted to cut down on use or sell it to pay off debts and cut down outgoings in one fell swoop!0 -

The whole thing should be scraped!
Son on what basis did they fine her on!?
If she has no means of watching terrestrial TV, then they can't fine her. I'm pretty sure you don't need to have a licence to watch a DVD on a portable DVD player, would be scandalous if you did!0 -

On the basis that she could of put a TV card into the laptop and could of used the portable DVD as a screen to a TV.

this is a part of the reply i got from the tv license folk when i emailed them about using my tv for dvd's/gamecube when i was cancelling sky.
'Television sets which are used in conjunction with home computers, video game
consoles, video cassette players or DVD players must be licensed if they are
ever used to receive television programme services.
A television set used solely in conjunction with a video games console would not
require a licence. However, you will need to make sure that the television set
is disconnected and any aerial removed, so that it doesn't receive any normal
broadcast transmissions.'
i cancelled my license, and had no visits yet. my tv is connected to nothing except the power supply and dvd/gamecube. if they try to fine me they'll have a fight on thier hands.
unless your friend didn't tell you the whole story they had no gorunds to fine her.0 -
The above is exactly what I am thinking. I could want to go fishing at some point, don't mean I have a fishing licence. I could also want to drive a lorry at some point, but don't mean I have to have a HGV licence right now!0
