How long to setup a mortgage?

Hi,
I know this is a very generic question, but how long does it take to setup a mortgage? I have some savings, and no debt (and no property to sell), so there shouldnt be any complicating factors.
I presume everyone on here would advise a fixed term mortgage seeing as interest rates are only going to go one way(?). Has anyone any advice on 'Offset' mortgages?
I've just realised Ive hijacked my own thread! Just any advice on the above would be muchly appreciated.

How long to get a mortgage in place varies wildly from one lender to another....have a look at the threads regarding Santander for instance.
Much will depend on your circumstances too. Having no debt can make things a little more complicated, for example, as you may not have a credit history to speak of.
Offset can be great if you have money to offset and are very well organised and wether to fix or not really depends on your attitude to risk, what your plans are for repaying the mortgage more quickly, how much you are borrowing, how tight this will be on affordability for you etc etc.Happily an ex mortgage broker!0 -
Piece of string comes to mind as I am nearly 4 months into an application and 6 months in total including the previous application - just for a remortgage.
It's all very dull, very boring and very very slow.0 -
Between 2 days and a year.0
