Extension of consent to let

Hello,
I've currently got consent to let on my mortgage with HSBC, and I've have a tenant in my flat for coming up to a year. I'd like to know what happens after 12 months as this was the period of the consent.
Does it automatically renew? Do I have to apply for extension? Do I need to convert to a buy to let mortgage?
Does anyone know?
Thanks for your help.
