I just read this
It is worth noting that a Liability Order is not recorded with a credit reference agency and will therefore not affect your credit rating
So what's the difference?
I'm trying to get the letter together now for the post, I was going to put an initial payment in with it, would they be ok with that? Does it need to be any kind of a detailed letter?0 -
I had a liability order done against me last month cos I couldn't be arsed paying.... it has no detrimental impact in any way so long as you email them and make an arrangement....
In my case, I emailed and offered to pay the whole lot £700 or so, and they refused so I now haw 2 DD's per month (started today funnily enough) - one for the regular 1/10th instalment and another is the arrears divided into 6 months! weird if you ask me - but they have NO adverse affect and there will be no issues, if you simply get in touch with the LA and make an arrangement, maybe offer £50 per month for 6 months!2010 - year of the troll

I was attacked at the property so we moved. I don't remember getting any of the reminders from them, was thinking maybe I had forgotten as I was just functioning on automatic really but it's not me to throw things out and haven't found anything at all from them. So if I write say sorry oversight please accept £xx and I'lll keep paying £xx monthly any problems there is an email stil awaiting response lol0 -

Yea just do that - thing is all they want is repayment, they don't want the hassle of taking you to court or bailiffs, just send an email saying you offer XXX and they will accept it or tell you what they expect. Thing is i'd suggest when you send the email that you also mention you'd like to pay DD as this is like a little guarantee for them you're serious....
I tried to pay the lot in one go, they declined and offered me monthly instalments - who am I to argue! :rotfl:
But do not worry, so long as you get in tough you'll only be maybe £60 or something worse off (liability order fee)...
I did get a reply to my email after a week and also a hard copy in the post... if you PM me i'll forward you what happened in out chat, for reference - but it was quite basic really.... i.e. Me: I'll pay it all. Them: no thanks pay monthly. Me: ok, how. Them: DD and this amount. Me: okay!2010 - year of the troll

Thanks for that. I've been told I owe them busines rates too so I'll see if I can split it. I could offer them the full amount but with us not working I don't want to use all my savings on something that I could do over a few months until we are in work and I can increase it, just in case something comes up that needs the savings.
Lol at their payment scheme, some dopey customer service advisor must have thought they would look better if they got it in installments than at once :rotfl:
Are you ok with the DD, can't they increase it if they want or is that not something council tax would do?0 -

Haha - I know its actually comical really..... but the liability order was junk, I told them in my email if they wanted a court battle regards to it then i'd happily provide them one, and then reminded them that they can be fined by parliament for deliberatelty wasting public funds, i.e. taking such a silly action over a silly amount all because they returned a cheque that was was dated less than a week in advance - cheque laws allow a post dated cheque to be banked, they could have and should have banked the bloody thing :rotfl: :rotfl:
The liability order remains, just the fee has been wiped  OH yea, they did charge me the 1p though, that I said i'd pay towards it so they can buy a life - they actually took it from me :rotfl: :rotfl: Classic - absolutely classic2010 - year of the troll
