I have been using superdrug hair dye for years but this year I have gone
ORGANIC and now hate the thought of putting chemicals on my hair.
I have just purchased from "spirit of nature" a semi permanent herbal hair colour and it cost £7.90  (i used to get 2 for £5 at superdrug).
I dont know if I can use half of the solution and keep the other half for 6 weeks later (its only to touch up the roots).
Has anyone else done this ? if so how do you keep it fresh ?

Does it have 2 solutions that you mix together? If yes then you can mix smaller amounts.
If not, then as long as the container is air-tight then it will probably keep ok somewhere cool & dark (not the fridge). I would definitely advise doing a test dye after the 6 weeks though.
If you are looking for organic dyes though I thoroughly recommend this site http://www.hennaforhair.com Remember that henna can do more that just red.Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!0 -
Only mix up half the amounts and then seal them up again airtight. I don't think the colour will come out as well with organic dyes though, they never seem to with my hair.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

I recently tried this with my hair colour, as my hair is fairly short and I seem to throw loads away. I had kept one of the mixer bottles, rinsed out, and I only used half the solution and mixed together as normal. The next time I did exactly the same and the colour was fine. I usually last about 5 weeks between colours, and I kept the solutions unmixed in airtight bottles.
This was not an organic colour though, and although my hair is fairly short there was just enough colour, but at least no waste.
I use Aldi hair colour, which I have found to be as good as the colour I previously used. (a ganier nutrisse one)0 -

It's a shame this is an American site I would have liked to send off for a sample. Does anyone know of a similar UK site.
Ive used Bodyshop henna on my daugthers hair with fairly good results ( in her opinion at least, bit dramatic for her old mum, but she does have loght brown hair and it did say not suitable for light brown to blonde)
I tried Lush 'les cacas' black on my son once but it went green:eek:0 -

I'm still looking for a decent UK site as I'm planning on going from ash blonde to strawberry blonde - I'll let you know. So far it would actually be cheaper to get it from that US place than the one's I've found in the UK.Ive used Bodyshop henna on my daugthers hair with fairly good results ( in her opinion at least, bit dramatic for her old mum, but she does have loght brown hair and it did say not suitable for light brown to blonde)

The thing about henna is that there are 2 different qualities. The bodyart-quality henna is the better one and doesn't make hair go green unless the hair has already been dyed with something else.Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!0
