Help! Debt collection agency problems

I have a debt that has been passed to a debt collection agency and made arrangements with them to pay a set amount on the 16th of every month. However they took the money from my account on the 1st and it has left me in somewhat of a financial mess. I phoned them and asked for a refund. They said not a problem but it might take upto a week to clear. I waited a week and nothing so I phoned them again yesterday. This time they said it would be done before 3pm yesterday. Still no joy. So I phoned them again this morning.
I was transfered at least 5 times, then I had someone singing at me down the phone and finally someone mimicking me everytime I spoke. The final straw was someone asking why I want the refund and was it to go shopping at Primark. They then hung up on me and I heven't been able to get through since.
I don't know what to do. Has anyone else had a similar experience or any ideas on what my next move should be.
I would be very grateful for ideas. The company is NCO finacial services europe and are based in London.

cancel your direct debit, and set up a standing order instead.

I don't really have any advice but I had to say how dare they treat you like that! How incredibly childish and unbelievable. It just shows the sort of straight out of school, no qualification morons they have working for those companies.

It's not done through a direct debit but on my debit card - they have kept my card details. I have now cancelled my card but have had no luck in setting up a standing order - they say they only accept card payments.Keep Calm:cool: Smile

contact your bank to initiate a 'chargeback' - tell them that your card was used fraudulently without your permission.
demand a pay-in book from NCO and tell them that you gave them a chance and since they've broken the agreement they obviously cannot be trusted to use your card details.0 -
NCO are crap anyway, if that happens again demand to speak to a manager. ring them up when the agent ask for a reference number just say "can i speak to a manager please i wish to make a complaint." Hopefully the NCO agent isnt lazy enough to stand up and get a manager.0

Firstly this is prime example of why you should NEVER give you card details to any DCA, request payment slips and pay in at your bank, in this way you control the payments and can provide strict proof of each and every payment.
Secondly don’t EVER phone a DCA, only ever communicate in writing, at least in this way they will be forced to find someone that actually knows how to use a pen or keyboard.
Thirdly don’t waste your time or phone bill speaking to a manager, by definition he is the one in the office who has worked his way up the "career" ladder by being more rude and deceitful than all the rest, and he will just spend his time on the phone with you using his crayons to draw pictures of the bananas and tyre swing he is going to buy with your extra payment!:rolleyes: It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them :rolleyes:0 -

Excellent advice, and very diplomatically put!I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

You have canx your card, thats the main thing, The only thing now i'd suggesnt maybe is just write to them, poss the FSA also if they are regulated... They would have to take it seriously then.
Doesnt give you any dosh between now and the 16th though, im sorry.0 -
