Charged to much for a loan.
Options
Hi
I took out a loan in 2005, this has now been paid off in full. I found out in 2008 that they didn't do what they said they were going to do and pay off an existing loan. (Won't go into all the detail but this has been discussed and the FOS has made a ruling which has been agreed)
Now because they gave me more money than what was agreed they charged me more interest for the loan, nearly 2000 more than what was agreed. The FOS has ruled that the excess interest should be "written off" as I have kept to my agreement and paid what was agreed at the time, and the excess money was put into an interest free loan.
But they still wanted this extra 2000 in interest which I did not agree to. I made a request to have the PPI refunded as it was mis-sold, they agreed to pay this back in full. But instead of writing of the interest, they have offset this with the PPI refund. They have not written it off as advised to do so by the FOS, they have instead deducted that amount from the PPI refund. I have referred this back to the FOS as I do not believe they have done what was agreed.
I must re-iterate I DID NOT OWE THE EXTRA INTEREST!!! This should have been "written off" or refunded as per the advice of the FOS.
Have the broken any laws, as they have effectively charged me and taken the money from me without my consent with regard this extra interest I did not agree with.
Any help would be greatly received.

You need to see this through using the FOS.0

Thanks for that. I have referred it back to the FOS, but I was just wondering if they have broken any law regarding this.
I am tempted to report them for theft.0 -

So let me get this straight, they gave you more money than they should and you never noticed?
Damn you must have had a lot of money, I notice if I get a tenner too much in my change0 -

when you are undergoing major surgery, learning how to walk again, only days after the loan was granted, come back to me and tell me you kept an eye on your accounts when you are unable to get out of a hospital bed, hundreds of miles away from home, and they are sending the statements to the wrong address, and then the sweep the surplus to an account that I didn't get statements for. as I said in the first post this has been dealt with, and there is nothing to add to that argument. I did that as I knew people like you would post comment like you have.
The fact is the FOS has made a ruling, they have gone against this and charged me the interest they said they wouldn't as I did not owe it.
If you haven't got anything useful to say, then please don't0
