Tonights dinner

Options
It's few days till pay day and i have hardly any food left. I'm also completely skunnered with my cooking, it's all getting a bit samey.

Any ideas for a tasty meal that's easy on the purse?

    Mashed potatoes with chicken soup.
    Mashed potatoes with gravy.
    Mashed potatoes with seafood sauce.
    Mashed potatoes with mayonnaise.
    Mashed potatoes in a bowl.

You can tell I've had the need to economise in the past can't you? All I had was one of those big sacks of potatoes. :rotfl:

You know what...I think I was happier in my poorer days too. :D

Try playing a bit - get your normal ingredients and add a few different storecupboard things, a few different spices etc, maybe use a soup as a base.

I have lot's of pasta, rice, haricot beans and tinned tomatoes. I also have some herbs in the garden.

I had a look at Jamie Olivers website and there are some fab recipies (really fancy the green pork chilli), but they seem to be for 6+ people. Think i'll rope the OH into the 'sunday cook-off' and make up a few recipies that are freezable.

I also tired making a tray-bake sausage dinner last night, was really tasty and cheap and was next to no effort - the kinda cooking i like after work.
