So I have a job interview but have very little details about the job.

Got an interview for an admin job in a residential home tomorrow. I saw ad on jobcentre website and they said they'd put application form in the post. It arrived a few days late, no job description or person spec in it, so I plooked on jobcentre website for the details of the job...but it had been taken off (this is happening a lot, no idea if it's just where I live) sooooooo I can't remember exactly what the ad asked for, other than it said they would train someone to NVQ level 2 in business and admin which is a qualification I already have. I don't even remember the exact times, though I think they were 9ish-2ish. I would have to know though as the job's the other side of town so I would probably need breakfast club for 1 child maybe 2.
I realise this is a lesson in copying and pasting to another folder or printing stuff off...but meanwhile how do I ask without sounding a complete plonker.:o

Try googling the job, you may find that it has been advertised on other job websites and is still there. Some job websites show jobs weeks past.

Call the job centre and ask them to give you the details again as you forgot to store it or print it off, if you have the referenece they can still see the details

I don't have the job centre reference number though. I know I should have kept it but when the place said they'd send me an application form I never thought about them not enclosing a job description cos every other place I've applied to has)>

What number do I ring. The one where it says to find out more detasils about this job one?

ETA- Have rang them and found it. Thanks so much for your help, I wouldn't have thought to do this.
  • If you got the details from the jobcentre in the first place they will have stored the job details against your file (NI number) - they can see all the jobs you enquire about through them as part of your job search history.

:rotfl: Hopefully you'll get the details you need, but there's the invaluable phrase "Can I just check what the hours / salary / training arrangements are", which is stand-alone if you really haven't got a clue, but if you're reasonably confident can be continued with "I think the ad said 9 am - 2 pm / £30,000 / a few training courses".

As for the hours, it's also worth asking "Is there any flexibility needed with that?" Because if they say "Oh yes, sometimes we'd like you to stay until 3 pm for the audit / to check the stationery order" then you can say "If I sometimes wanted to work from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm, would that be a problem?" and then you've saved the cost of breakfast club, maybe ... Or they may say "we just wanted 5 hours and mornings suit us best", or they may say "we really need those hours because of x, y, z."

    Best of luck!
