Hi
I've been trying to replace my kitchen on the cheap.
Got Wall Units from IKEA at a very reasonable price and got them fitted (through a friend) for a bargain.
But the base units are proving more difficult. I was hoping to just replace the doors and drawer fronts and any external wood and keep the shells
but trying to get somewhere that has fronts to match my wall unit finish and (even more infuriatingly) has similar sizes or can cut to size within my budget is proving a nightmare.
Ikea's sizes are a mile off my existing doors/drawers and front panels and Homebase don't have anything to match finish-wise.
Any ideas much appreciated please.
Thanks folks

Oh dear.... possibly you didn't think it through very well to start with..... To get doors "specially made" costs a fortune compared to standard "off the shelf"
Chances of getting an exact match from a different supplier is also pretty slim. We added to our kitchen recently and got a reasonable match but not 100% perfect....... I feel for you I really do but I think you may have to go back to Ikea and change your base units if you want to get matching fronts....0 -
Yikes!
I'd be thinking along the lines of: if I cant match it , I'll pick a contrast to it...ie, if the upper wall cupboards are woody looking, I'd go for a cream base unit and vice versa. Just realised that dosent help with the size issue, but it could look good.
Is there no way you can stretch to buying new matching Ikea base units to comlete the look if thats what you most want by making economies elsewhere??Norn Iron Club member 4730
