Help with writing a complaint letter please

Options
Hi there,
I'm sending off a letter of complaint in the next few days to the CSA but I finding if difficult to write a polite letter hehe!

These are the issues ive had so far:

1. Numerous calculations were done when NRP was on benefits but no money was ever given to me
2. Im still waiting for a ridiculas amount of calls from 2 years - more recent 3-4months ish to be returned.
3. NRP has had 3 seperate reports done & ive not been informed of any of them (untill this week) each time the person that has done the report has asked for me to be contacted for more information.
4. A complaint I made in July 09 has been completly ignored it was never even acknowleged
5. No interim assesment has been made still well over 18months since finding out NRP is self employed & visiting his offices 3 times.

Im not really sure how to put that in a letter unless i do as a list like above?

  • I personally would have complained at the time, but I guess its not too late
  • re 1) as I've posted before, believe it or not but it's true I have it in writing from the CSA they contact the administering department asking them to make the deduction, but if the officer concerned thinks it will cause hardship they don't have to make the deduction.

    2) Yep strange isn't it they ring you you don't reply they harrass, you ring them they ignore it.

    3) what sort of reports

    4) Complaints do tend to get ignored unless you copy your MP in

    5) possibly a bit slow even for them

Write the complaint refer to your previous letter and include a copy if possible.
send it recorded so you can proce they received it.

on the 7th of May send a further letter complaining about the lack of response to your 2 letters and send a copy to your shiny new MP. Seriously I've sent 10 or so letters of complaint and the only one that's been dealt with are the ones that My Mp has been copied in on. I asked once and he says it's about 10% of his postbag.
 I've paid the CSA off and stopped them taking payments:beer:
I'm stillowed some arrears by my ex

I was a NRP, now I'm a PWC, partner of a PWC, and parent of a PWC ( and very confused at times )

  • In the meantime I'd start drafting the letter, some of mine have taken a week or more to get everything I wanted in, cos you keep thinking of other stuff.

I always email my MP with my concerns and complaint matters. Within same week i get a reply saying he has sent this over to the CSA directort, then following week i get a proper case worker from Falkirk assigned to my case!
  • I've written a few complaints letters to the CSA and have found that the Complaints Team are the most pro-CSA staff you will ever come accross.

They get top marks for loyalty to the CSA and make every excuse possible to gently and politely swerve your complaints out into space somewhere.

By all means try it though.

My policy is to get involved with as many people in as many departments as possible. Write 2 or 3 letters every week to lots of different CSA people picking holes in anything and everything in your case.

This actually entices them to make a huge amount of clerical cockups and maladministration which can be used as ammo later.

Any other company that makes this many cockups would be dead and buried within weeks. Imagine the tax office making that many mistakes.

Unfortunately dealing with your CSA case becomes a full time job, but it has to till it's sorted. Over 2 years now I've been at it.

By the way, the most helpful dept that I have found is the Appeals team. Very friendly and very helpful. You would think they are on your side against the CSA.

    Good luck.

Fair enough if you have time and patience. But i wait for 4-6 weeks from my initial complaint, if no response i contact my MP. Thats what MPs are there for - to service people in community. They have direct access to the CSA director department so complaints are taken more seriously than via Bolton route.
