Can anyone help me negotiate costs here on the venue ??

  • Thanks for all the input and advice here people I really appreciate it !

We went for a drive yesterday and went to both venues again Choice 1 still has the edge.

But I still feel like choice 2 is up there I do really like it however OH was being a right pain in the backside I think he's talked himself out of choice 2 and he says it's not a patch on choice 1 grrrrrrrrrr lol

Anyway have made an appointment with choice 1 for later this morning and am going in to negotiate have been right through the brochure marking what we do and don't want.

Whatever happens i'm not going to be giving them an ultimatum because a) it would sound so insincere coming from me and b) I would rather work with them to meet our budget than not at all IYSWIM.

I am armed with all sorts of information for going and have really worked hard on it to try and make it work I'm looking to end up around 4.5k for what I want and whilst I will be flexible with that I really do not want to be hitting 5k.

I think the minimum spend rubbish they were talking about is crap and I think if its above 4.5 then we have serious problems and its no wonder they are quieter around then if thats what they want from people, but I won't be coming out and saying that direct to them lol again not my style and I don't think its the best way to get them onside.

Honestly speaking whilst choice 2 has accomodation for us and family members I would happily give that up in order to have choice 1 as my venue it would be so worth it IMO, but I think its a good thing to point out to venue 1.

I have priced wine from Tesco direct wine that we both really like and this would cost around £270 in total and that gives us ample supply with some left over for home :D I just need to ask about the corkage we have already decided that if it works out the same to provide our own wine + their corkage as it costs for the venue to supply then we would rather do that than have their house wine tbh but I'm also going to be asking to have prices quoted by the bottle rather than the glass.

Thanks again guys will drop back here later and let you all know how I got on
    xx

  • Well I know its taken me a few days but i've been waiting for replies and for people to get back to me etc

I said all that I needed to say to them about where my issues were and told them again how much we really wanted to get married there

I left it with them for a few days and I spoke to one of the co-ordinators again via telephone yesterday and talked over ideas about the day and what they could offer etc As we ended the call I felt that we weren't going to achieve anything and that I was going to venue 2

She said she would follow up our conversation with an email which she did and it was full of good news they have reduced lots of things I asked them to and the cost now stands at £4,600 ish I sat and read the email and I cried it has everything we wanted on it she had spoken to the owner and he had okayed all of this

I called her and thanked her and made the booking over the phone were going in on saturday to sign the contract which will have all of the discount information on and also hand over the deposit

I am so happy were now getting married at our number 1 choice venue and I shed numerous tears of joy last night :o

I want to thank you all for helping me say what I wanted and achieve the result I got I couldn't have done it without you all

    Really glad you got it.
OH & I are in the middle of similar negotiaions & it's getting quite stressful, but our No.1 venue have been repondong to our negotiations, and we have so far managed to cut £2K of the initial quote.

Gotta make our final decision by tomorrow :)

I know its terribly stressful I got told off yesterday by OH who has sensed my increasing stress levels day by day and he said to me yesterday " you have looked miserable all week you're meant to be happy ! " lol I felt quite bad when he said that I hadnt realised it showed quite as mch as it did

I think thats where the tears came from tbh just so relieved it was what we wanted and holding my nerve was all over with

Well done on getting the 2k off the bill though that is fantastic :T:T

Its a massive saving and will be put to good use elsewhere do you think you're swaying towards going for it or not ?

    Good luck xx

I am swaying towards it, but it's between two venues still, and the other is still a bit cheaper, but No.1 is my fav.

    Decision is imminent!
