What type of insurance do you have?0

Its a material fact (or something like that - can't remember exactly what its called) and must be disclosed or the policy could be void. I wouldn't risk it.callywally wrote: »I am now confused as have been told on here that you dont have to tell them if not mentioned in paperwork?
Not only that but if someone in your household is (or has been) bankrupt it could also affect your home insurance policy.

I would tell them. Believe me they will try to wiggle out of any payments if they can. It's not worth the hassle.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Its called a material fact and it would be advisable to tell any insurer if and when or are about to go br.
With regards to insurance if you run into problems speak to a local broker as not only do they have the expertise to guide you through the process, I also know first hand that the software they use make no reference on motor insurance to br thus giving you a huge panel of insurers to quote from...on the household side of things it is asked but a lot of insurers are br friendly.
Personally I wouldnt rely on a comparison site for something like this but then again I may be slightly biased towards insurance brokers

Before going BR I would have tended to agree with you, but after going BR and using gocompare my opinion has totally changed. Both car and house insurance obtained using this site, both BR friendly companies and both let me pay by instalments, and the best thing is both are cheaper than my previous policies:):pB&SC No. 298

In my experience car insurance has not been a problem, but I have just renewed my house insurance this time and its been a nightmare. Loads of companies would not quote if BR or ever have been. Its in the small print of loads of contents policies and when you ring up they say they cant insure you. AA let me though0

I have been working really hard on another thread to get insurers to stop asking this question once a person is discharged, and have had one major recent success in changing one company's policy.
I did post all this on another thread very recently, it is really disheartening to know my efforts seem to be only for me and I am the only one putting in the legwork, I don't blame anyone on this thread at all but my heart sunk when I saw this thread and 20 posts in not one mention of the work I have put in or encouraging others to help.0
