I am a home owner with a decent credit rating [per creditexperian my credit scoring is 832] but I have been unable to secure a personal loan..i have a black mark due to a kitchen loan in 2005 that was defaulted on..but has since been settled]. I am only looking to borrow approx £3k but my bank [Santander] has refused. I tried a few others and always the same result..dont want to venture into the loanshark area!!.. looking for a reliable lender..any recommendations??

the problem seems to be that you have applied for a number of loans,were they in a shortish period of time?if so that will be one of the reasons you have been refused,so you will have to wait around 6 months before trying again

Whilst you state that you have a decent credit rating 832 is only gauged as 'fair' according to Experian. That said companies do not use their credit score which experian state is 'an indication only' and has been created purely in the interest of Experian garnering additional income.

If you were actually to take a look at your Experian rating (although I wouldnt recommend it as it is meaningless) you would find it has dropped further as a result of your multiple applications.

If you keep applying and failing you run the risk of dropping into the poor credit zone
