just received my p60 today with a typed note inside advising that i was being charged £25 for the privelige and it will be taken off my next wage! this is a new one and not a past one which is why im really not sure how they can be charging me. I only work part time and £25 is alot to loose for a peace of paper that i dont even need at the moment. is it not the law that your employer has to give you this? anyone else have this problem?

It is the law that you have to be issued with one, as to charging for it.
No, Big no.
You cant get copies of your P60 anyway.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
didnt think you could be charged for it. you can get a copy though, if you have lost one
Lost P60
If you've lost your P60 your employer can issue you with a duplicate - but this must be clearly marked as being so.
from hmrc website. does not say if this is free or needs to be paid for?0 -
You can't charge an employee for a P60 (or any other PAYE forms) but I can't find anything to help you challenge your employer. Just saying 'you can't do that' won't be very helpful!0

Not even a reprint?Always ask ACAS0 -
As employers legally HAVE to give you a P60 at the end of each financial year, they can't charge you for it because if you refused to pay the charge, they'd still have to give it you.
I think they could charge you if you required a replacement as they'd have already provided you with the P60 they were required to legally to give you. There's nothing specific which says employers can't charge for a P60 but I think that's because it's simply not done.0 -
The law states every employee must be given a P60. Please ring HMRC asap, they are not allowed to charge you.

Sounds like it could unlawful deduction of wages:Rules for making deductions from your pay

- you agree in writing to a deduction
- your contract of employment says they can
- it is a result of any statutory disciplinary proceedings
- there is a statutory payment due to a public authority
- you have not worked due to taking part in a strike or industrial action
- it is to recover an earlier overpayment of wages or expenses
- it is a result of a court order or Employment Tribunal decision
0 - it is required or allowed by law, for example National Insurance, income tax or student loan repayments
