Phone your environmental health department and complain about the noise0

Are they actually breaking any laws though? I thought noise was only a legal issue should it happen outside of reasonable hours.0

I have a somewhat similar issue. I get on well with my neighbour and she is horrified that her dog howls sometimes. I find its give and take though, if the dog is howling I know she is out so I turn up the TV/Stereo a little and drown him out. In return, she doesn't complain when we make any noise.0

I feel sorry for the dog been left along for so long. We used to have a border collie but when I moved jobs and my wife had to start working out of the office, she used to work from home, we realised it was not fair on the dog and arranged for it to be re-homed. It broke both our hearts but it was the best for the dog.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

Our dog was struggling when we were out (we werent out for long as OH is a SAHD but there are occassions when you have to go out) we didnt realise what a racket she was apparently making as she was always quiet when we left and on our return. It was just on receiving a rather angry sounding note from the neighbours on the subject that we found out about it! What we've found is that if we leave the radio on the dog seems calmed, or at least we think this works at least the neighbours have never complained again!0

One of my customers told me he had been reported by his neighbours for having a barking dog and he had a visit from the authorities who had suggested he buy a "lemon collar" and apparently it worked and the dog never barks when wearing it.
He said it was expensive but well worth it.0 -
My friend at work had no idea that her little dog was making a row when they were out. Her neighbours, who she gets on brilliantly with, told her, and said that they'd not liked to say anything before but that it was pretty much intolerable, and had been for ages! She bought a special collar which sprays the dog with water when it barks. Doesn't harm the dog, just gives it a shock. Anyway, it worked brilliantly apparently. Maybe you could find one on the internet, print it out and take it round to show them, or put it through their door?0

Our neighbours over the back often leave their little yappy dogs out overnight. Last night they were barking from at least 2am until 4am. I was seriously considering phoning the police about it. This is the first time it's happened this year - it happened quite a few times last summer. I'm surprised no-one else has reported it. My husband thinks they're drunk, let the dogs out and then fall asleep before letting them back in.0

I dont know if its been mentioned (dont have time to readthrough the thread) but they could put the radio on for it. Does it have chew toys or a bone to be busy with? It might just be bored.0

If they have a camcorder, could they maybe film the dog while they're out? Then they'll see what you've got to put up with. We done this when we got our dog as a puppy, think he was around 6 months,as he was making such a racket when we went out, we wanted to know if he was like this the entire time we were out.
Turned out he was up to allsorts! He was howling, trying to tear up the kitchen floor, pooing then eating it. He did grow out of it though.2017 - no clutter to be seen challenge: 72/2017
