Advice please! Is this normal?

Options
Hi Folks,
We have recently started a DMP with CCCS, the first payment has been taken and is soon to be distributed to our creditors, who i believe are yet to agree to the new payment proposals. However we received a letter in the post this morning from Sainsburys Bank which are one of our creditors saying that a representative will be calling our house on the 22nd April.
Just need some advice really as i am a bit paranoid. Should i let them in? What are they trying to achieve? Are they Baliffs?
Sorry if these questions are stupid,i just didnt expect it and has made us feel very anxious.
Thanks in advance..

Do they tell you why they are calling round?

You can send a letter telling them you just want to deal with them by letter. I'm not sure where the letters are but someone will point you in the right direction.

You don't have to let anyone into your house that you don't want to.

Read the letter VERY carefully - does it say they will be actualy calling at your house or calling you at your house? - they word these letters very ambigiously - they want you to think they are calling at your house to frighten you into contacting you whereas what they really mean is that they will be calling you by phone at that time/date.

Perhaps you could type the relevant sentence/paragraph on here for others to see and advise

    Don't panic just yet

  • Ok thanks. The letter is more of a card with perferatted edges i had to tear off. In the middle a small letter as follows,

    IMPORTANT NOTICE

Our representative will be calling your home on: 22nd April 2010

Please telephone 0845 604 1974 if this is not convenient.

The thing is all correspondence with them has been done by letter as they dont have our new phone number. So dont think they could phone even if they wanted too.

They will not be coming to your house - it is a standard letter issued to frighten you into phoning them - everyone interprets this as calling at your home - and if they don't have your number - they can't ring you either - DON'T ring them or they will have your number - this is probably what they are trying to do - frighten you into calling them

Sit tight - send the letter to CCCS and I will try to find a link to the letter to send to them about corresponding by letter only - or someone else may post it before me

No they are not bailiffs - they can only call if the case has been to court and the court orders them to

You do not have to let anyone into your house and they can't make an appointment without your permission

Even if they do call (a very very small chance),
you don't have to talk them, they have no special powers.

You are doing the best you can:T
some creditors do try it on , but as you are with CCCS:A they should and will calm down

You can send Sainsbury's this letter
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=23624477&postcount=4

and keep a copy to hand to anyone if they ever turn up

    Don't panic :D
