Help with Debt Problems

Have a look on the old style board - some people can feed their families on 60 a week. O.k it's going to be tough but it can be done - so I'm led to believe.
I am sure on the Moneysaving Oldstyle board they will make every penny stretch as far as it can for you.

How much can I save in 2012 challenge

£60 per week is £260 per month so is very 'doable' for a family of 2 adults & 2 kids and can probably be reduced with tips from the OS board.
The problem is that Daisy's SOA has only £60 PER MONTH for groceries so the shortfall may be bigger than her SOA suggests unless all her food costs are funded by her family.
I think DarkConvict is pretty spot-on re the amount of the mortgage per month versus the family income.
Daisy, I think your next step should be to contact one of the free agencies.
Good luck, do let us know how things go.
And as difficult as it is to do, please try to keep your stress level to a minimum for the sake of you and your new baby-to-be.0 -
Thankyou I shall take into account the advice and try to phone one of the debt agencies is there any you could recommend please? are any open today?0

Hi daisy1981
Sorry to read about your problem. There is some excellent advice above. A few things to think about.
Your mortgage is this interest only? If not change it for a while if your lender agrees. This can save you a bit of money.
The CCCS is good for advice. You can send a private message to the CCCS via this message board. The cards you have you could send token payments whilst you seek advice. But what ever happens do not ley your family go without food the cards can wait your family are mor important. There are loads of talented people on this website that will assist you. Best of luck and keep your chin up. DL0 -
Hi Daisy
Take a look here:

There's a number of FREE agencies listed, including the one that DarkConvict mentioned - I'd try the 2 top ones.
Unfortunately, they all seem to be closed now until Monday.

Daisy
you ARE doing something, you've made a really good start.
When you ring on Monday, remember to have everything to hand so you can answer any questions - pop your car tax into your SOA and something for MOT/repairs.
Clarify about the cost of groceries (and cleaning stuff/toiletries) per month.
Also, tell them about your visit to the CAB.
I'd personally leave this until after you hear what they have to say to you.
However, other posters may have a different view about this so see what other people think.
There's nothing else you can do until Monday so put your feet up and have a nice cup of tea.0 -
Thanks again will see what monday brings I managed to get hold of the car finance they said I have paid well over half for the car and can return the car and they also said if I wanted I could sell privately then pay them what I owe them so that made me feel a little better as Ii would rather do that if I could because my car should be worth around 6k if not more and then i could perhaps put the rest on a credit card but we see what happens0
