the 'grant' could well be discretionary funding. Where I work, we have funds to award on top of any concessionary funds. Everywhere is different for eligibility - for example, being over 19, living at home and an income of less than £16,040 would qualify her for £350 funding (on top of any benefit related concessions) to pay for course fees, equipment, books, bus fares, child care (if relevant obviously!)

Call the college and ask to speak to someone who deals with discretionary funding.

The apprenticeship will pay her a small wage whilst putting her through her NVQ Level 2, her literacy and numeracy (called the Technical Certificate) and work based training. It should have some kind of position available after she has the NVQ and technical certificate.

not a problem - like I say though, everywhere is different for eligibility, so it will probably be different but there will be some kind of pot of money available. It might have a slightly different name but say it is for someone on low income to help with fees after concessions have been applied.

If your daughter starts a full time college course before she's 19 you will still be able to get CB and CTC until she's 20. If she's doing a level 2 courses she'll be able to claim 30.00 pw Adult Learning Grant as well as her getting her part time earnings.

Financially, this might be a better option.
