mortgage offer and conveyancing

Could somebody tell me if there is a difference in the value of a property and the purchase price.

Basically I am getting A MORTGAGE FROM the Halifax for £100k against an inherited property of £185K value.

Unfortunately my solicitor will not sign it all off As the Halifax have quoted the purchase price as £185k and he says the purchase price is only £100k

Any help would be grateful
thanks

    Happily an ex mortgage broker!
  • myself and my sister, I am buying my sister out of her share.

There was no mortgage left on it.

My sister who is the executor has her solicitor transferring the deeds into my name

Your solicitor needs to ring the Halifax and ask what he/ she needs to do on this. Either the Halifax solicitors pack hasn't been read properly or it hasn't been understood.

Best that the solicitor gets advice from the bank directly so that they are clear on what they need to do rather than you going in with what you've read on here to be fair.

  • the solicitor is constantly faxing and writing to the Halifax, but to no avail, Halifax will not budge. This has been going on for 7-8 weeks now.

I agree it may be something to do with the Solicitor not understanding the handbook, but obviously not positive about this.

    Any other suggestions

    Thanks
