centrepiece help please

Options
Not sure if this has been asked before and I might sound a little thick for asking:obut I was thinking of having fishbowls as my centrepieces with a light, water, crystals or beads and then a floating flower head,my question is I don't have a clue what light to have in it,is it floralyte submersibles or Oasis submersibles(don't know what the difference is),do I go with crystal accents or deco beads(whats the difference) and will an artifical gerbera flower head float in the water? Also do you turn the lights on before you submerse them in the water or do you turn them on as it gets darker?Sorry for sounding completely thick:)

  • I'm having these. The gel will make sure the gerbola does not sink. The lights go on before you put gel in otherwise you get sticky hands lol. Not sure what the difference with lights are but I went for floralyte submersibles. Got all my stuff - fishbowls/mirror plates/ crystal accents/lights from Michael Dark online and cost £50 for 7.

  • Thats brill thank you, thats the site I was looking at as well.Thought maybe you'd have to put the lights on first :o)hehehehe, obviously the water still looks like water but is jelly like?Argh I get it now doh!!!Thanks for your help xx
  • Yeah I made a 'mock up' and the gel is pretty gooey. The lights last around 48 hours so will still be lit at night time.

  • Hiya

I'm doing this too, thanks to some fab ideas from the peeps on here.

I found a VERY cheap alternative to the gel - we have a chain of shops round here called B&M think they are national? anyway, they're a cheapy shop and they sell those glass nuggets for vases super cheap. 80p for a big net, or 2 for £1. One net comfortably covers a submersible in a 25cm fishbowl. They do them in loads of colours too - blue, pink, yellow, etc.

Well worth a look if you have one of those shops nearby?
