I can hardly believe I'm starting to face up to my debt problems after years of denial and hiding if theres a knock at the door.
I signed up to get a copy of my credit report
Made a start by phoning the court to find out how to mark my judgement as satisfied. Fortunately I'd opened the letter from the issuing court to say that my attachment of earnings was discharged. I now have to send them a copy and they will update my file.
I took my list of debts and have to be honest I felt desperately upset looking at the mess I've made over the past few years.
I phoned Aktiv Kapital(?) and agreed repayments with them to clear two of my debts. :T
I need to work out what to do next, I still have 3 outstanding balances on Credit Cards that I no longer have (they make up the bulk of my debt). I fortunately don't have an overdraft but my spending really needs curbing fast.
OH has been extremely supportive and we are now living together which whilst is saving us huge amounts on travel costs, we just haven't got it together in terms of shopping budgets etc.
I feel for the first time in my life that I'm starting to take on the responsibility for my actions rather than running from them and hiding.
I'm so grateful I found this site. It's given me the courage to do this.

Hey kitty! Well done for facing up to your problems! :T
One thing that has been invaluable to me is a spending diary! Every day I write down to the penny what I have spent and on what! At the end of the month it gives you a clear picture of the areas where you need to cut back!
Also after a few months you get to see what you should be budgetting annually for! For example my petrol costs work out at about £100 a month, birthdays £10 a month, that sort of thing.
If you post a full SOA (see this thread for a guide) we might be able to help you make more cutbacks!

Many thanks SS
I'm definitely going to give that a go, I seriously cannot believe how much money we spend during a month and I'm sure I'm going to have a few eye openers.
I feel quite down this evening - I think my heads probably having a hard time adjusting to things I've avoided for so long
Target for tomorrow is to start a spending diary.
Today (so far) has been a spend free day :j
No plans to go anywhere later, so hoping it stays that way.
I'm not sure what to do about my water rates, I've agreed a payment plan with them, but they are asking for a payment on the 12th of this month despite me telling them I wasn't in a financial position to make the first payment until the 1st of Sept.
I need to divert the danger of sticking my head back in the sand!!
