Wedding outfit dilemma

I’m off to a wedding in a few weeks and have got a bit of an outfit dilemma. It is a 1920s theme and I have got quite a nice “flapper” style dress from H&M. I’ve got the headband, a genuine period shawl and of course the mandatory pearls, slave bangles etc etc...
The problem is the dress is short. OK very short. If I was 17 then no problem I’d wear it happily without a second thought. The trouble is that was 30 years ago! I don’t have time to get an alternative dress so I’ve got to work with what I have.
I do have the legs for it (being 5’10” has its advantages sometimes) but I’m not sure. I am tempted to team it with knee length flat boots rather than “Mary Jane” style shoes but that brings the dress bang up to date and the 20s accessories don’t really work then.
Do I just go for it regardless or let the style of the dress give a nod to 1920 and wear the boots and a pashmina???
Help

I'd go the whole hog.

Could you add a row of longish tassels onto the bottom of it (sure somewhere like Dunelm Mill would sell a braid you could attach) just to make it stay flapper rather than slapper?Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

I'd just wear the dress and the Mary Jane shoes and sod it. if you have nice legs, why not show them off? I hope you don't freeze to death however...4.30: conduct pigeon orchestra...0

make sure you wear shorts underneath and you'll be grand0

I'd say yay for an extra row of tassels and poss flesh coloured (or black if daring) fishnets - I always feel more covered up with these on, randomly - but deffo stick with the shoes0

Go for it
The only other alternative I can think of is foot-less leggings to give you some coverage but really not sure what this would really look like.
Honestly if you've got it flaunt it

If your budget can stretch to it, buy another identical dress, cut the bottom off and attach it to the the original.0

What????
Amanita, sounds like you just need a pair of tights to show off those pins without exposing too much flesh. Have fun! xoxoGet to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs
