"Best" ready made/processed foods

Due to ill health I am temporarily unable to cook from scratch. I dont want to waste money on unpleasant ready made food items and so would appreciate recommendations for the best tasting ready made:-
Battered/breadcrumbed white fish fillets, and
Yorkshire puddings
and any other particularly nice tasting and good value ready made/processed foods with which I can make a meal, (not snacks or complete "ready meals").
ps-I know M & S are good but the nearest one is 35 miles away and they are too pricey, so not an option. I have Aldi, Lidl, Tesco and Morrisons in my locality.
Thanks

I quite like Innocent Veg Pots, when it comes to ready made convenience foods. 4 minutes in the microwave and they make a great chief ingredient for a meal that you can just add a chunky roll or some rice to if you need to.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

Hi there Emuchops, Sorry to hear of your predicament!
In my experience, if you like chunky fish in light batter then it's best to look for bird's eye "simply fish" that might just be me as we are down south and don't "do" the thick batter that seems to be had up north, everything we have had from morrisons has been more or less, half batter, half fish! You can normally find an offer on bird's eye in one of the major supermarkets as somewhere more often than not has it- and you only need one piece, they are not like some of the tiny ones- usual offer prices are around £2-£2.50 for 4 pieces.
I have also tried aldi's frozen "yorkshire puds" they are comparable to aunt bessies except a little smaller but for 56p who cares- bearing in mind this is just my opinion! I find aunt bessies to "airy and crispy" I don't know how you like your puddings as everyone differs, my DH and dad define a "yorkshire pudding" as "risen and crispy on the top, stodgy on the bottom before you get to the crispy outside on the bottom" if that makes sense! If you are looking for something more like this then morrisons do a 4 pack of "fresh" ones usually on BOGOF for about 99p and will freeze too, their Bigger size frozen ones (the size of a dinner plate) are usually the same! Just a suggestion if the big yorkies are up your street, I notice you have said "of which I can make a meal" so you are not wanting to rely on "whack in the micro chemical jobs" maybe some pre-prepped veg (due to your ill health) and some meat, gravy (if not able to do, buy a fresh one) upend in pan and make a veg/meat stew type thing and upend into giant dinner plate sized yorkie? as pan does not take monitoring once all thrown in, could also do more than one dinner when reheated?
As I say, was just a suggestion!
Regards and get well soon

Always give df and dd tesco or morrisons value yorkshire puddings and have had no complaints. Although df's favorites are tidgy puds. (but these don't seem to be around much)
my ideas for easy meals
Before dd was born i wrote a list of easy things that could be made in case my brain stopped working when she was born.
Some of the things that we had were
quiche and ready done potatoes that they sell in the chiller cabinet (these potatoes are not particularly pleasant but they are edible. served with pre made salad.
jacket potatoes, with salad and various fillings eg prawns, cheese, ready made curry.
pre cooked chickens, with pre cooked potatoes and salad, or with crusty bread.
make a casserole with pre casserole veg, pre diced meat or quorn and gravy or soup. It will cook itself.0
