                    Hi,
We are trying to track down what we believe is a pension that my husband should be due from a company that he worked for when he was younger, he remembers that he paid superannuation from his wages.
He worked for Howard Farrows for two periods of time the first being from 1969 to 1974 and then from 1976 to 1979.
In this time this company changed it's name and was been taken over by others so trying to track down who has it now was a problem, but we managed to do that.
This company is now saying that they have no trace of my husband being in any of their pension policies.
Our problem is that he does not have any of his wage slips from these periods as his mum threw them out when she moved houses in 1980.
We have tried the pension tracing service, and we have written to the current company and the insurance company that they use and both say they have no trace of my husband being in a pension scheme.
We have also written to the National Insurance Department who have provided a NI history which does show NI paid whilst in employment (however before 1974 it does not identify the employers) and after 1974 it only shows a code that HMRC use for their own purposes.
We have written to HMRC to ask if they can provide the details of the companies that there codes relate to, but we are not holding out much hope.
Does anyone have any ideas how we can get proof after all this time that Peter worked for this company and proof that they took superannuation from his wages?
Does anyone know is superannuation payments automatically prove that someone is part of a pension scheme?
Does anyone have any other suggestions about how we can get this company to acknowledge that my husband may have a pension due to him?
