advice on ringing bank about charges need a verbal prompt

ok my co op bank have really hit me hard this month!
last month i couldnt pay a dd which im almost certain i cancelled online so it didnt go out the following month (changed it to a different account) but it did go through taking me over! ( the charges are applied on the 28th of the month my funds dont go in until the 1st so i get charged for the time in between too!)
anyway last month i couldnt pay it so they refused it then charged me £35 quid for the pleasure and then took me over my overdraft facility and charged me again!, so when i paid in my money this month (£320.) the bank swallowed up nearly £200.00 of it £100.00 for the overdraft leaving me with just £120 to live on without going into my overdraft now im selling my backside off on ebay to try and make some money but i need some advise on how to tackle them on the phone, because i need this money really badly im affraid i will get ratty or tongue tied, the last time i rang them he offered me back half as a good will gesture (17.quid) which i was grateful for at the time
but right now i need some more help in being in control
anyone have a good telephone manner?
thanks
Klare

hi - maybe write it down as bullet points. Put all your main points down in a logical order and take it point by point. Then you can't forget what you've already said, and won't come off the phone and realise there was something else to say.

Personally, having been there, got the t-shirt (and the mega bank charges!) I would do it all in writing. Go to http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk , register and have a look in the template library. You will need the preliminary letter as a starting point.

Good luck. I'm in the middle of getting refunds of just over £5k from three companies. Three claims are at the court stage and two are at the preliminary letter stage.

go for it! The letters give you a very structured timetable, and don't be fobbed off by them saying 'give us another month to look into it', when the two weeks is up, send the next letter!!
