Bridesmaid dress dilemma

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me please,I am not getting married till next year but had kind of decided on my colour scheme, burgandy, from a burgandy butterfly design on my invites to my daughters wearing a burgandy dress(older one),my youngest an ivory dress with burgandy sash.We have also already bought the cravats for h2b and bm and a burgandy tie for my dad...now the prob is I have seen a stunning bridesmaid dress for my older daughter but its a pewter colour, its stunning....so my question is would it really matter if I got something like that but still went with the burgandy as my theme,I know you are supposed to match(well I'm gathering thats what you do:o)from reading various mags and online sites!!I just would't want to buy it and then it look completely out of place on the day?
Advice please:)

I think you run the risk that she looks like a guest rather than a bridesmaid. Do you have a picture of the dress or a link in case any of us have seen something similar in burgundy?0

Do you know any dressmakers who would be able to take a look at it and make it up in burgundy? That's what we did when my sister got married and I was her bridesmaid, the dress we really liked was a peach colour but her colour scheme was turquoise and cream, so my dad's cousin (who made my sister's dress) had a look at the bridesmaid's dress and made it up in a turquoise fabric. Maybe it's worth seeing if you could find someone local who might be able to do something like that?
ETA: Or alternatively, ring the shop/company and ask if they do it in other colours? I saw the dress on another site for sale,so can't post a photo on here of it,I would love to have a dressmaker look at it and try and make something up in burgandy but we are on a budget so couldn't afford it.Thanks for your honest opinions:)x0

What about adding a burgandy sash like you're doing for the younger bridesmaid?0

Hi - before Linda beats me to it being on a budget doesn't mean yo can't afford a dressmaker - what is your budget?Had a thrifty wedding 17-06-10

I completely agree with the dressmake comment. A friend of mine has a replica of a debenhams dress made by a dressmaker for £70. And it fit perfectly and looked amazing.
I think that it is a bit of a risk her wearing pewter, unless you can tie pewter into your theme elsewhere. Maybe sashes on your chairs or something.. but i do think your safest bet is a burgandy dress - and if you're set on the style of the pewter one, have a dress maker take a look. If you tell them you're on a budget, they'll guide you to the less expensive fabrics.0 -
I agree that adding pewter to an already established theme may make it look like an after thought.
My adult bridesmaids start at around £120. This is fully boned and in some instances can be for silk. Distance work is an option especially for a corset back which does allow for fitting flexability. Put together a mood board and see how it goes together before making any rash decisions.0 -

If I am honest I guess I just assumed a dressmaker would be expensive?I am already having my dressmaker make my bolero jacket and alter my dress so I guess I could ask her if she could make something similar and the cost?Thank you.x:)0
