When does a 50th Birthday year begin

Options
I am a little confused, hopefully someone out there can steer me in the right direction

It's been my plan to visit somewhere different every month for my 50th year however I am not sure when it begins is it

the first day after my 49th or the 1st day after my 50th

All comments will be gratefully received.

I would think it's the first day after your 49th. If you think about it your first year alive is from when you are born til your first birthday. Then once you are 1 you enter your second year. Make sense? :)

    I'd agree!

It would also mean that on your birthday you could have a great scrapbook of your years outings and maybe revisit your favourite place as a treat!

In theory, I agree with the above. But... after I celebrated my 40th I made a big deal about all the new experiences I managed to do before I hit my 41st, so I counted it as all the things I did in my 40th year. I think it just makes hitting that milestone a bit more exciting with all the things to look forward to, and then spending the whole year doing exciting (and not so exciting) things just made it seem like more fun to be 40 IYSWIM.
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)

Your 50th year starts after your 49th birthday.

However you could say that after your 50th birthday is the first year of a new you, or the first year of the your next half century etc etc so you could do the things then too :D

Youve lived 50 years and now you want to commemorate that but fitting into the next year all the things you wanted to do in the previous 50 but never got the chance :D

A wonderful idea whichever way you decide to do it:D
  • Many thanks for the responses - looks like I will be starting to travel this October. I will definately be making a scrap book I love that idea, its something I will hopefully enjoy showing grandchildren someday.

Got some great trips planned including visiting relatives abroad etc, getting very excited now.
