Not at all moot.
The debt may be disputed, but the debt is also unequivocally statute barred regardless of that.
RW can (and probably will) argue the toss over the disputed status of the debt if left just to that.
Raise both issues in any reply or complaint and as said, they are doubly sunk.
In the end there are 2 valid reasons why the DCA should not chase the debt. To neglect raising one issue over the other just risks prolonging the contact and nuisance from the DCA.
