Hi - Quick Advice Please

Just wondered if you can help at all - I am hoping to apply for a mortgage in about 6 months time - I am separated from my husband, but have been an OO for the previous 10 years, but I'm currently renting.

My problem is this, I missed a minimum credit card payment last month of £5.10 because the bill got lost somewhere between barclaycard and me.

They have refunded my late fee of £12 because I've had the account for 10 years and never missed a payment, but they have said that the default has been passed to the credit reference agency and will show for 6 years, as it isn't a "bank error"

I have now set up a minimum direct debit to stop it happening again, but do you know what the chances are of this preventing me from getting a mortgage deal in the future. I have always been really careful with my credit rating and frankly I'm gutted

A missed payment will not be a default.

The one missed payment should not cause a problem - as a few of my recent cases have had missed CC payments, but were still fine.

It will depend on the overall scenario, but cannot see that alone causing problems.
