Just bought some Churchwards Apple and Pear cider from LIDL.
Avoid the Pear cider unless you have a really crap palette.
Haven't tried the Apple, but the pear is revolting.
It tastes like sparkling water with chemicals in it and a look at the back says it contains artificial sweetners and sulphites!
The apple doesn't say this, so hope that doesn't have the vile chemical finish.0 -
I have not tried the pear cider (I don't like perry anyway) however I can vouch for the apple cider which is light and fruity. It is much less strong than scrumpy and delicious chilled as a summer drink.0

I really like the pear cider chilled. It has a lovely vanilla aftertaste, much nicer than any of the rest.0

Why is it that we don't produce any ciders in the UK that actually taste of apple instead of chemicals? The French (particularly in Normandy) produce ciders infinitely superior to ours, and fortunately you can get them in Lidl from time to time. Or Majestic (but a lot dearer there).0

While I agree the French do make a good cider generally, I can not agree that here in England we don't. Have you tried any of Henney's cider? Particularly the 'Apple Sweet ' variety. Also recently the Bulmers Crisp Blend is a winner as well.0
