need your expertise to make an almond slice.

Hello! I have done a search but seem to be useless at it as just keep getting peoples meal plans............not what im looking for.

Have been asked to make someone an almond slice (not a bakewell tart slice) and looking for the recipe. Thought this would be the perfect place to ask.

It has a sort of shortbready base (which i am assuming is shortcrust pastry?), then a layer of jam (simple enough) then has a sort of cakey layer thats like a crumble that tastes like marzipan (thats where the almonds will be i figured:D)

any recipes would be gratefully recieved!!

    Hi there,

I'd probably just go with a bakewell tart recipe?

Got one here on bbc good food. Just put it into a square tin, and maybe add some glace cherries (if liked) for demarcation/fanciness?

If the pennies are tight, you can make a fake bakewell/ almond slice with a standard sponge mix with about 1/4 of the flour changed for ground rice to give texture and a slug of almond essence for flavour - it's actually quite nice
