Wonga.com and collections agencies

Hi,

Not sure if I'm posting in the right place, and if I am I apologize. Just really looking for some help here.

Basically I've been an idiot and used the above payday loan company (I'm well aware of how most people feel about said company already, and yes I am stupid for using them). Anyway, I got into the dreadful cycle of paying then re-borrowing and now I can't afford my repayments. I haven't paid them the money owed since 31st March and now they have charged about £200.00 in fees :(

I have made them an offer of X per month, but they have said although they can't refuse this it will not suffice. They have also said that I need to make an immediate payment, but I cannot afford to make any payment until my next payday, which is 30th April. They will pass the file on to a collections agency if I don't make a payment, but I am not sure if this is a good or bad thing. I know that it will affect my credit score, etc, but I am hoping that if this does happen, I will be able to reason with the collections company better than with Wonga, as they have been complete d*cks about the whole situation. I know it's what they're paid to do but at least I'm trying to pay!

Anyway, any help at all would be appreciated very very much. Thanks.

  • The collection company will not be any more helpful.
You borrowed money due to repay 31st March knowing fine you couldnt repay until April 30th and even then a part sum. This was at a massive rate for non payment.

Who is the real !!!!!!? Wonga simply want their money and fees.

Who is this in reference to? He has admitted he's been "an idiot".

It is in reference to the OP who seems to think that its reasonable to call Wonga dicks for what he concedes is his own idiocy.

    That's not really helpful DVD.
The OP has admitted to being an eejit, and is only looking for some advice.
I would try and negotiate with the collections company as best you can.If you aren't getting anywhere, then go and speak to a free Debt Advice agency. It may also be better if you posted on the Debt Wannabe forum for better advice.

  • The OP is in a situation though that can't really be helped.
The best advise would be at all costs to find a short term loan on a more appropiate basis from a family member/friend/bank and get it paid off now as the fees and interest mean that a repayment plan or waiting will now work.
  • Thank you to the people who have given me valid advice, I will look into the methods you have suggested.

Also, I would like to say to DVD that there is no point posting on someone who knows they have done wrong, just to have a pop. I did ask for help, not digs thanks very much.
