Hi all,
Looking for some general advice on most cost-effective way to getting a small amount of home heating oil.
Basically we are moving out of the house in the next couple, if not before. I know I could go about pickup a 20L bottle from petrol stations etc. as I need it but just wondering if there is another solution which I don't know about. Anyone know the usual minimum that can be delivered for example?
Thanks.

We had made a couple of emercency trips to the petrol station, but happened to go directly to our local oil supplier for 2 x 20L bottles over easter as we had run out and it was almost 1/2 the price of the petrol station one. Maybe you could ask them to directly fill your 20L cannisters? It is definitely cheaper.0

While most suppliers have a minimum delivery of 500L, some do go as low as 100 or 200. It will cost more per litre than buying a larger amount but should work out much cheaper p/L than the 20L drums. I find the drums far too heavy to lift and pour too. Ring around.0

Some garages and some oil suppliers sell kerosene from pumps. You might be able to get a container filled. I suggest you fill containers with no more than 15 litres each as 20/25 litres is a bit difficult to handle. Make sure you use a mega wide funnel too otherwise it will go everywhere.
What part of the world do you live in? I might be able to advise where you can get fuel.0 -
Redon fuels in Newtownabbey are cheaper than filling stations, if you bring your own drums they are £2 cheaper again.
If you don't have drums visit your local car wash and ask them for empties, most will happily give them away as it's less rubish for them to get rid of.0
