Help- discoloured handbag!!!

Options
Hi all,

first time posting on this board- hoping someone can help!

I have a cream leather handbag which has become discoloured by clothes it has rubbed against (I think from blue jeans, possible when it was raining).

I want to clean it up without having to buy specialist leather cleaner.

Any pearls of wisdom?

Thanks

  • It is a specialist leather product but not expensive: in the first instance I'd try some leather conditioner, the type you use to remove polish when you're about to use leather dye. If you don't want to try that you could try giving it a good rub with a slightly damp, soapy cloth or some neutral shoe-polish

I was going to suggest a damp flannel & face soap, then wipe with another damp flannel & towel dry - I clean my leather suite this way after seeing Kim & Aggie do it.
It works far better than leather cleaning wipes etc.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

Dove face soap and a wet cloth - it works a treat on my cream leather chairs
Wet the soap wet the cloth and then wring it out then rub loads of the soap on the cloth then in circular movements around the marks on the bag

Thanks all- I'll try the stop and flannel idea before I buy the leather conditioner.

    Fingers crossed!!

I was going to say try plain old soap and a damp flannel. or cream shoe polish.
I can also remember using vaseline on an old leather handbag and it brought it up nicely. but you need a bit of elbow grease on it!
